Goal
The primary goal of my internship was to assist in creating effective communication strategies that reinforced Florida Blue’s corporate values, supported business objectives, and engaged both internal employees and external stakeholders. My work contributed to enhancing the company’s public image and strengthening relationships with the community, policymakers, and healthcare partners.
Overview
As a Corporate Affairs Communications Group Intern at Florida Blue, I was part of the team responsible for developing and executing internal and external communications strategies. My work focused on fostering employee engagement, enhancing corporate reputation, and supporting public relations initiatives. I collaborated with various departments to ensure that key messaging aligned with Florida Blue’s mission of providing affordable healthcare and promoting health and wellness throughout the community.
Target Audience
Internal Employees: Engaging employees through internal newsletters, announcements, and corporate updates.
Healthcare Partners: Collaborating with healthcare providers and community organizations to ensure consistent messaging on Florida Blue's initiatives.
Policymakers & Media: Supporting public relations efforts to communicate Florida Blue’s contributions to healthcare reform and public health.
Members & General Public: Promoting health and wellness programs to Florida Blue members and the wider community.
Role
Content Creation: Assisted in drafting and editing content for internal newsletters, press releases, and social media posts to ensure clear and consistent messaging.
Internal Communications: Supported the development of internal campaigns and employee engagement initiatives to enhance organizational culture and communication flow.
Media Relations: Helped track media coverage and supported the public relations team with outreach efforts to promote Florida Blue’s initiatives.
Event Support: Assisted in planning and coordinating company events, both internal and external, such as health and wellness fairs, community outreach programs, and press conferences.
Research & Reporting: Conducted research on healthcare industry trends, public health policies, and competitive analysis to inform communication strategies.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Worked with the marketing, HR, and community outreach teams to ensure the alignment of communication strategies with Florida Blue’s broader goals.
